DAY THIRTEEN OF CADET ATTACHMENT PROGRAM
In relation with Presidential Directive on Genuine Police Visibility that is in line with the Peace and Security Framework of PGEN RODOLFO S AZURIN JR, CPNP dubbed as Malasakit+Kaayusan+Kapayapaan=Kaunlaran and KASIMBAYANAN (Kapulisan, Simbahan, at Pamayanan) with its ultimate goal of achieving "Kaunlaran" by nurturing harmonious relationship with all sectors of the community— the personnel of Santa Rosa City Police Station together with the Cadets from the Philippine National Police Academy conducted establishment visitation within the area of Santa Rosa City.
This continuous and apparent police visibility[1] is conducted to ensure public safety, monitor the peace and order situation and preempt the occurrence of crimes within the area of responsibility.
The goal of this police presence and police exposure in the community is to lessen local residents' fear of crime. It fosters a sense of security in the community and confidence in the police that they can respond quickly to any unpleasant incident. It also fosters a sense of dread in anyone who intends to commit crimes or break the law. Contrary to what we and the general public believe, police officers do not simply react and respond when a crime has already been committed. Hence, police officers are taking proactive measures to stop crimes before they happen. The police take preventive measures to lessen and discourage offenses that might threaten the peace and harmony of the neighborhood. The PNP's efforts can be seen in actions like patrolling, maintaining a police presence in public places, and interacting with the local population to build trust.
In conclusion, carrying out this type of ground duty for our police officers has been a good learning experience for me as a future police officer who will take the position of Chief of Police in cities and towns. As this is a best practice that should be done and applied in every city in our nation, I will incorporate the Santa Rosa City Police Station approach into my upcoming assignments.
